Iontophoresis Compass
Find your iontophoresis device
Our compass provides a quick view.
Our recommendations, ratings and Top-Ten.
What do you want to treat? Single areas like
Hands - Feet - Axes - Special?
Or a combination / variant?
Who wants to use the device, for which purpose?
An important factor is the age of the users, as well as their technical understanding.
For users under the age of 18 or those who have no talent for technology, we recommend the Idromed 5 PS. This automatic device offers a gentle pulsed current and an "autopilot" for a comfortable treatment. Unlike some other devices, the Idromed does not have additional features that might lead to unfortunate treatment experiences. Thus, it is the perfect device for those who don't want to become experts on iontophoresis right away.
Looking for more? If you have even the slightest interest in technology, we gladly recommend an iontophoresis device that is a little "more complicated". You don't have to be Einstein to master these advanced technologies. A video demonstrating the usage of our most sophisticated device can be found here.
Our recommendations for individual treatment areas/body zones:
Bindner Medical - Top iontophoresis devices for the hands
| Charts for | TiP-TOP | TOP | OK |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hands | Hidrex Connection | Idromed 5 PS | Dermadry AAM DE20 |
Iontophoresis for the hands (summary)
TIP-TOP: Hidrex Connection with a pulse width of 70-80%
TOP: Idromed 5 PS - very simple usage
OK: Dermadry hands & feet ≡ AAM DE20 in pulsed current mode ≡ Hidrex ClassicION in pulsed current mode
Note: In our opinion, Dermadry might be too intense for the hand treatment, since the pulse width is set to 90%. The two other devices on our list offer a pulse width of 50% and cannot reach the values of our TIP-TOP iontophoresis device due to the treatment limits.
So-so: Idromed 5 DC (only direct current - in our opinion, direct current is usually too intense for the hand treatment)

Bindner Medical - Top iontophoresis devices for the feet
| Charts for | TiP-TOP | TOP | OK |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feet | Â Â | AAM DE20 |
Iontophoresis for the feet
TIP-TOP
- Hidrex connectION with a pulse width of 80-90%
- Dermadry hands & feet with a set pulse width of 90%
Note/features: Dermadry's maximum output is 25 mA. Thus, it doesn't quite reach the maximum output of the Hidrex connectION (30 mA).
TOP: Idromed 5 PS - very simple usage
OK: AAM DE20 in pulsed mode / depending on user: direct current ≡ Hidrex classicION in pulsed mode / depending on user: direct current ≡ Idromed 5 DC
Note/features: The Idromed DC only offers a direct current mode - even for the foot treatment, direct current can often be too intense. Using pulsed current for the foot treatment is also advantageous.
Bindner Medical - Top iontophoresis devices for the underarms
Iontophoresis for the underarms
TIP-TOP:
- AAM DE20 in 50% pulse mode
- Hidrex classicION in 50% pulse mode
TOP:
- Hidrex Connection in 60% pulse mode
- Idromed 5 PS - super simple
Note: There is only one reason for the Hidrex connectION and the Idromed 5 PC to miss out on the highest-ranking placement: they are a little more expensive than our TIP TOP devices, but offer almost the same efficiency for the underarm treatment.
OK: Dermadry underarms with a set pulse width of 90%
Note/features: With a pulse width of 90%, Dermadry's current might be too intense for the underarm treatment.
So-so: Idromed 5 DC
Note/features: Direct current for the underarm treatment? You'd be wise not to!

Possibilities of combining different iontophoresis treatments

Iontophoresis for hands and feet simultaneously
TIP-TOP: Hidrex connectION in 80-90% pulsed current mode
TOP: Idromed 5 PS - very simple usage
OK: AAM DE20 in pulsed current mode ≡ Hidrex ClassicION in pulsed current mode
So-so: Idromed 5 DC (only offers direct current - in our opinion, this is often too intense for the hand treatment)
Dermadry excludes simultaneous treatments for hands and feet in the user manual.

Iontophoresis for hands / feet and additionally the underarms
TIP-TOP: Hidrex connectION underarms 60%; hands 70%; feet 80-90% or hands and feet simultaneously at 90%
TOP: Idromed 5 PS - very simple usage ≡ Dermadry Total* - budget device with corresponding limitations*
OK: AAM DE20 in pulsed current mode ≡ Hidrex ClassicION in pulsed current mode
So-so: Idromed 5 DC (only offers direct current - in our opinion, this is often too intense for the treatment of hands/feet and more sensitive body parts)
*Dermadry: when hands, underarms, and feet are being treated separately/consecutively. Dermadry is not approved for the simultaneous treatment of hands and feet. The possibility of treating hands and feet at the same time is lost with this device. Hands and feet have to be treated separately. The pulse width of 90% is a little intense for the treatment of hands, especially underarms. The reason we rate this device as "TOP" is found in the good price of the Dermadry Total.

Iontophoresis for hands / feet / underarms / and additionally other body parts
TIP-TOP: Hidrex connectION in pulsed current mode: other body parts 50%; underarms 60%; hands 70%; feet 80-90% or hands and feet simultaneously with 90%
TOP: Idromed 5 PS - very simple usage
OK: AAM DE20 in pulsed current mode ≡ Hidrex ClassicION in pulsed current mode
So-so: Idromed 5 DC (only offers direct current - in our opinion, this is often too intense for the treatment of hands/feet and more sensitive body parts)
Dermadry is only approved for the treatment of hands, feet, and underarms!
Iontophoresis for special body parts (forehead, buttocks, back of the neck, face, and stomach) - solo: no hands, feet, or underarms
TIP-TOP: AAM DE20 in pulsed current mode ≡ Hidrex ClassicION in pulsed current mode
TOP:Â Hidrex Connection in pulsed current mode: 50%
Note:
There is only one reason for the Hidrex connectION to miss out on the highest-ranking placement: it is a little more expensive than our TIP TOP devices.
OK: Idromed 5 PS - very simple usage - could be a TIP-TOP device, if not for two reasons: there are no special adapters for the Idromed, the user has to resort to underarm electrodes in sponge pockets. It's also a little more expensive than the two TIP-TOP devices.
So-so: Idromed 5 DC (only offers a direct current mode - in our opinion, this is usually too intense for sensitive body parts)
Dermadry is only approved for the treatment of hands, feet, and underarms!
